Mantu is still a pup, a very LARGE pup. (about 90 pounds!) He will be one year old on June 3rd, 2004. Mantu, along with his father, was abandoned at a boarding kennel in Dallas. The Boarding Kennel paid for treatment of Mantu's Skin condition, (He's recovering from Demodex) and was able to place his father with a kennel worker. Rather than turn Mantu over to the city pound, where he'd likely have been put down, they contacted the DACA Rescue. He's currently being fostered in South Texas. He has been tested for hunting ability, and it has been decided that his temperment is too soft for hunting. He wasn't handled much as a little pup, which resulted in a timid temperment, so he'll require some time to settle in, and some positively enforced training to help rebuild his confidence, after his rough childhood. This guy needs some TLC. He likes kids and women, but is timid around men. His coat is gradually growing back in, and he has a beautiful build that will become more obvious once his coat has fully recovered. He's shown no aggression towards other dogs. He's been Kenneled his whole life, so he's not house broken, but is young enough that you could train him. He handles like a dream on lead, and has a very laid back demeanor in his kennel. He's got a long life ahead of him, and lots of love to give to a person who is patient enough to allow him the time to trust you. If you think you can provide Mantu with the Love and attention he deserves for a lifetime, please contact the DACAR Chairperson at: dogresq@wcnet.org
