Breed Specific Legislation Information
Breed Specific Legislation (BSL) is a growing concern of dog owners and groups in North America. BSL, is legislation directed at specific breeds of dogs, rather than on a dog’s behavior. Many cities and states that had enacted BSL have since changed their laws. Other cities and states are actively pursuing BSL. Although most BSL is directed at “Pit Bulls”, many large breed dogs like the Dogo Argentino and other "bully breeds," are confused by many people in the general public as being “Pit Bulls”. You should know the laws of your communities and stay on top of any lawmakers proposing BSL. Here are links to many sites dedicated to this important topic. Many of these sites also contain links to other BSL information sites:
*DACA advocates responsible dog ownership and supports comprehensive dangerous or viscous dog laws that are not breed specific. If you know of any BSL links that would be an asset to have available here, please let the webmaster know, so that they may be added. |
