Meet the Board: I was appointed to take over as secretary/registrar in late August of 2004, when the previous sec./reg., Jo Anne Carty, retired. At this point, I'm learning the ropes with the help of the former registrar, and I'm sure in no time, I'll be up to speed. I've been an active member of the Board of Directors for 3 years now. As I'm sure you'll notice from the Bio's of the members of the board, we all wear many "hats," within the club. For instance, I'm secretary/registrar, and I'm also editor of the DACA Member Newsletter, I also do the majority of the website updates, and such. My husband and I have been in Dogo's for about 7-8 years now. We hunt with our Dogo's in South Texas. This breed is amazing, and we've got so many stories to tell about hunting with them. Fond memories of those which have passed on to the "happy hunting grounds," and lots of goals for our future Dogos. My husband had the pleasure of meeting Don Carty several years ago, and that's when he decided he wanted to be a part of the DACA. Through my husband, I got involved, and I met Jo Anne, Linda, and Liz, as well as several members of the DACA, at Don Carty's "wake." It was a sad time, but everyone rallied together to try to keep Don's dream alive. The DACA went through a period of "Dormancy," shortly thereafter. The registrar had health problems, as did the President. And as a result the DACA fell dormant. After a short time, the DACA Board members all pulled together to once again revive the club. The President resigned for health reasons, and my husband, Michael, was elected to the presidency. Shortly thereafter, the Registrar retired after approx 19 years of devoted service. The BOD elected myself to take over as registrar and secretary. It is my hope to fill Jo Anne's shoes, and make her and Don proud. The entire Board of Directors has been restructured, and we have a fine group of individuals who will help the DACA expand and take it's well deserved place among the Breed Clubs. I'm always ready and willing to listen to the members of the DACA, as are all the members of the BOD. The DACA has many new and exciting changes coming about in the near future, and I'm excited to be a part of it. |
